How it works · four steps · audit-trail gate

Forward the task. We do the rest.

Handfast is a permissioned agent that lives in your inbox and runs the dozens of small, tedious, time-eating tasks on your behalf — with consent, on a leash, and on the record. Here’s how a task moves from your inbox to a one-line receipt, end-to-end.

One inbox. Permissioned access. A full audit trail. Nothing moves without your approval.

The four steps

From the inbox. To a one-line receipt.

Every task, in every playbook, runs the same shape — forward, investigate, approve, complete. The math changes; the gate doesn’t.

  1. Forward the task

Hit reply on any email, or send a one-liner from your phone — “cancel Hulu,” “dispute the X-ray charge,” “return the boots.” Forward the context (the welcome email, the bill, the order number) and that’s enough. Handfast reads the inbox you already have.

  2. Investigate and surface options

Handfast reads the bill, the contract, the threads — pulls the plan, the dates, the CPT codes, the fine print — and presents the move it intends to make. Retention offers, dispute angles, return windows, refund paths: surfaced before anything irreversible ships.

  3. You approve or reject

Nothing moves without a “yes” on the record. Each “next step” ships with the script, the cost, the alternative — and a single-tap approve, edit, or reject. Reject and Handfast stops at the line. The audit trail timestamps the call.

  4. Handfast completes what the provider allows

Handfast dials the line, files the dispute, opens the RMA, posts the refund claim — and waits on the provider side until the result is on the record. A one-line receipt lands in your inbox: the outcome, the timestamp, and the transcript or thread attached.

What Handfast handles

In scope. Every day.

A non-exhaustive list — more landing every week. If the task moves a bill, cancels a charge, files a paper, or calls a line on your behalf, it’s in the wheelhouse.

  • Consumer returns & exchanges — RMA portals, prepaid labels, drop-off routing, refund chase.
  • Subscription cancellations — retention-line calls, free-trial exits, “please cancel” paperwork.
  • Medical-bill disputes — CPT-code cross-checks, insurer fee-schedule match, appeal-letter drafting.
  • Retention calls — carrier, cable, streaming, gym. Hold the line; ask for the retention team.
  • Price adjustments & refunds — post-purchase price-drop claims, goodwill credits, goodwill escalations.
  • Utility & city referrals — accounts in your name, service activation, disconnect dispute, transfer of service.
  • Document filing & follow-ups — provider forms, claim submissions, follow-up on stuck paperwork.

What Handfast does NOT do

The honesty list. Read before you forward.

An agent is only useful if it knows where the line is. These are the tasks we don’t take, the ones we turn away, and the reasons we don’t pretend otherwise.

  • Anything illegal, regulated, or under a court order — we don’t do legal, medical, or financial advice.
  • Anything that requires authority you can’t delegate away (signing a binding contract, a notarized document, a sworn statement).
  • Anything that needs in-person presence without prior coordination — we don’t show up on your behalf unannounced.
  • Anything outside the partner network — we don’t cold-call new vendors or invent providers for tasks we don’t cover.
  • Anything your insurer, employer, or contract expressly forbids us to do on your behalf.
  • Anything time-critical within seconds — we work minutes-to-hours, not the second the email hits your phone.
  • Anything where you’ve authorized us but not briefed us — the task ships on the brief you forwarded.
